Book Review – Ms. Marvel Volumes 1-3

Ms. Marvel Volumes 1-3Ms. Marvel Volumes 1-3 by writer G. Willow Wilson and artists Adrian Alphona, Elmo Bondoc, Takeshi Miyazawa & Jacob Wyatt

What happens when a superhero obsessed, Pakistani-American, teenage girl walks through a strange fog and is suddenly able to use Ms. Marvel’s powers? You should find out in this enthralling comic. There are currently three volumes covering issues 1-15 of the Ms. Marvel reboot. Kamala Khan is the new Ms. Marvel and watching her navigate both teenage angst and discovering her new superpowers is thoroughly entertaining. The art is both dreamy and strong. The writing is both playful and striking. I don’t usually read ongoing comic books, preferring to stick with standalone graphic novels, but Ms. Marvel has sucked me in.
