Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park
Flat-Out Love is a heartfelt, quirky story of love and loss. When Julie arrives in Boston for college suddenly without a place to stay, her mother contacts an old friend of hers who invites Julie to live with their family. As Julie gets to know the Watkinses, she begins to change their carefully constructed family dynamic. The story was slightly predictable, but its simplicity does not detract from the incredible emotional depth. It is that depth that makes this story stand out from others. The emotional attachment to the characters makes their pain, anger, happiness and love all the more real and affecting. I would definitely recommend Flat-Out Love.
