Book Review – The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily

The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily book coverThe Twelve Days of Dash & Lily by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan

It’s been a year since Dash and Lily met and fell in love throughout Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares. They have had some tough times. Lily’s beloved grandfather had a heart attack and taking care of him has taken a toll on Lily’s usually optimistic attitude. Now, at Christmas, Lily’s favorite time of year, it’s up to Dash, Lily’s brother Langston, and their friends to stage an intervention in order to get Lily into the holiday spirit. Again Rachel Cohn and David Levithan have woven a memorable cast of characters into an unconventional yet comforting tale. I recommend pouring some hot chocolate and settling into this story of warm, holiday feels.

Review: From the authors of “Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist” comes another erudite and fun teen “meet cute” story. At one point early in the novel, Dash describes himself as “horribly bookish” which made me smile. Also, the other main character, Lily, describes herself as “the weird girl.” So of course I was going to relate to them and like this one!
