Book Review – We Were Liars

We Were LiarsWe Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Review: “We Were Liars” is the story about Cadence Sinclair Eastman, a girl from a wealthy family who spends her summers on a private island on Martha’s Vineyard. At the beginning, the reader discovers that Cadence had an accident two years earlier which as left her with debilitating migraines and a fuzzy memory. The story is told through flashbacks and the snippets of memories as Cadence pieces together the truth. What at first seems to be a simple YA tale of growing up and first love slowly transforms into something much more intense and powerful. The story was haunting and had surprising twists since Cadence is the definition of an unreliable narrator because she herself doesn’t know the truth.
